Beneath an avenue of centuries-old trees, we designed a rural house for permanent living together with an accompanying guest house for visiting friends. The proposal aims to integrate naturally into the surrounding landscape and to connect both functions into a coherent whole. From the remains of the original building, portions of the perimeter walls are preserved and reused as a symbolic, visual, and acoustic barrier. The new guest house is inserted between three retained walls, while the family house is positioned opposite, across the courtyard. This arrangement restores the historic courtyard that once existed on the site. The two houses are connected by a paved surface of stone stepping stones. An outdoor seating area is located here, protected by a canvas canopy providing shelter from sun and rain.
